Polartec USGI Fleece Jacket Gen III LVL III

The ever popular and distinctive USGI Fleece Jacket by Polartec, part of the Extended Climate Warfighter Clothing System. This is the third generation of a system designed around the concept of layering and meant to provide the US Army with the tools to survive and operate indefinitely and comfortably in low temperature environments, from chilly 40° F nights on fire watch to -60° F days rounding up penguins in Antarctica. All produced by a company whose other customers include names such as L.L. Bean and Patagonia.

The Fleece Jacket wears like any normal jacket, with a front mounted zipper that can be drawn all the way up to enclose a thick collar around the wearers neck for added warmth as needed. The jacket is primarily covered with its fuzzy fleece material, which offers a cozy and breathable fit, but also boasts nylon reinforcements along the shoulders, elbows, and lower forearm for added durability in the field. Starting at the under arm and traveling all the way down the flank to the waist, you'll find a flexible waffle design as seen on other thermal waffle tops such as the USMC FROG. This provides enhanced flexibility, breath-ability, and moisture wicking. There are also two spacious pockets at the belly for storing light items like gloves or keys or for simply warming your hands. Two additional pockets can be found inside of a mesh construction, great for hats or documents. There are also small panels along the chest to mount hook and loop patches such as name tapes or questionable morale patches to give HR something to talk about. 

With adaptability and layering at the forefront of its design, the Fleece Jacket can be employed as an outer garment for extra warmth, or worn under an over coat or windbreaker as an extra layer of insulation. Its light weight and thin construction allow it to slip surprisingly well under a wide variety of coats, and also lends itself well as a backup jacket to keep in your vehicle or pack without taking up much space. Its handsome coloration and design makes it great for wearing to work, and its raw utility and comfort makes it great for sitting by the campfire at night.
