USGI Duffle Bag
USGI Duffle Bag
When you mention the military to the average person, the first thing that often pops into their head is the Duffle Bag. Images of troops boarding ships with their "sea bags" bound for Europe, stepping off of aircraft in South East Asia lugging the green weeny, and shipping containers full of these iconic bags being unloaded in the desert, all come to mind. Where ever the troops go, the Duffle Bag goes with them, packed full of uniforms and personal effects for the long journey ahead.
The purpose of the Duffle Bag is to act as luggage and storage for an individual in transit in order to provide long term sustainment. 70 to 80 pounds of gear, clothing, jackets, etc, can be top loaded into this water resistant nylon-canvas tube and securely sealed shut with a simple eyelet/clip design. For greater security, a lock can be attached to the prong on the closing section, preventing spillage and tampering, able to accept many different sized pad locks. A carry handle and adjustable shoulder straps on the outside of the bag allow it to be lugged to and from a vehicle, loading area, or storage site. The small pocket on the outside of the bag is designed to carry documents such as shipping papers and inventories and can be used to remind you whats inside without unpacking the whole thing. A skilled pack-rat can retain an insane amount of items in these dense gear loafs. And yet when empty, they fold up into basically nothing.
As stated before, these bags are great for long distance and long term travel. You can use them just like civilian luggage to transport your things when flying, pack them neat and organized in the trunk or back seat of your car for those long cross country road trips to the next comicon, or quickly pack you household items into it and throw it in the back of your cousin's pick up truck the next time you need to move. Additionally, if you want to clear out space in your closet, you can load these bad boys up with winter jackets and cold weather gear that you wont need through the summer and stow them in the attic. Or you can store camping and LARP gear in them that you don't use often enough.
No matter who you are or where you are in life, anyone can find value in these inexpensive, durable, utilitarian Duffle Bags.
